What are cookies in computer – general definition. 

Cookies, also known as browser cookies or tracking cookies, are small, often encrypted text files, located in browser directories that contain a small amount of information that is specified below. When visiting a website, these files are downloaded to the other user’s computer, cell phone or other device. Upon each subsequent visit, the cookies are returned to the original website or to a different website that recognizes that cookie file. Cookies enable the website to recognize the user’s device. They are used to help users navigate their websites efficiently and perform certain functions. With other words, this information can be used to verify and identify the user’s session and preferences, and the content of its shopping cart or anything that can be performed by storing data in the user’s computer. Due to their core role of enhancing/enabling usability or site processes, disabling cookies may prevent users from using certain websites.

Cookies are created for a transitional period of time, when a user's browser loads a particular website. Their recoding begins when the user opens a browser window and ends when the user closes it. 

Persistent or tracking Cookies are also employed to store user preferences. Many websites allow the user to customize how information is presented through site layouts or themes. Persistent cookies remain in the user’s device for the duration of the period set within the cookie’s file. They are activated upon every visit by the user to the websites that created the given cookie.

The websites operated by Eshops Association use cookies to collect information in order to obtain a better understanding of the visitors to these websites and how they use them. What kind of information is collected?

Eshops Association collects two types of information within the framework of its websites. Information collected through cookies and information provided by users by filling out forms. Information collected though cookies are analysed in the Google Analytics service include:

  • if and when the user visited the website for the last time;
  • the site from which the user visited the website.

In fact, pursuant to the terms and conditions for the provision of the Google Analytics service, the users of this service are expressly prohibited from collecting information connecting personal data with the information of the Google Analytics service.

Websites operated by Eshops Association only collect personal data through the use of forms which are actively filled out by the user and sent. In this event, we respect and adhere to the laws and legal regulations related to the collection and storage of personal data. Eshops Association ensures that all information related to individual users is stored pursuant to local and international laws and legal regulations.

Eshops Association websites may contain references to other websites whose operations are beyond our control; naturally, the above principles do not pertain to such other websites. Operators of these websites may acquire information from you that will be used in compliance with their own rules, which may differ from our rules.
